Terms of Service
These terms cover buying a seat and using the Facelet app for Mac. By reserving a seat, creating an account, or installing the app, you agree to them. We have kept them plain; if anything is unclear, ask us.
The short version
- One payment buys a personal license to Facelet version 1, with every version 1 update included.
- Not happy? Email us within 30 days of receiving your download and we refund you in full. Before the beta ships, cancel any time for a full refund.
- You need your own ChatGPT subscription and an Apple silicon Mac. Facelet is not affiliated with OpenAI.
- The early beta is beta software: expect rough edges, and tell us about them.
1. Who we are
Facelet (“Facelet”, “we”, “us”) operates facelet.app and makes the Facelet app for Mac. Contact: hello@facelet.app.
2. The early beta and your seat
The early beta is a limited, paid first run of 200 seats at $24.99. Buying a seat reserves your copy of Facelet version 1 and your license before the beta build is released. We will email your download when it is ready; we cannot promise a date, and delays do not entitle you to more than a refund. If we never ship the beta, we refund every seat in full. After the beta, the regular price is $49.99; your seat and your price are locked the moment you buy.
3. Your license
Your purchase gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Facelet version 1 on Macs that you own or control, for your own use. You may activate it on up to three Macs at a time. The license includes every update to version 1. Future major versions and additional character collections may be sold separately; nothing you bought stops working because you decline them, though compatibility with future operating systems and third-party services is not guaranteed.
You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense, or share the app or your license; reverse engineer or decompile it except where the law allows; remove notices; or use the characters, portraits, voices, or other Facelet assets outside the app or to train a model.
4. What you need
Facelet runs only on Macs with Apple silicon, M2 or newer, running macOS 14 or newer, with 16 GB of memory recommended. It does not run on Intel Macs, M1-family Macs, iPhone, iPad, or Windows. Requirements may be refined as we test more Macs. You also need an active ChatGPT subscription from OpenAI that supports voice conversation; Facelet uses it through your own account and does not include it. ChatGPT and OpenAI are trademarks of OpenAI; Facelet is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by OpenAI. OpenAI’s terms and usage limits apply to your conversations, and changes OpenAI makes may affect Facelet.
5. Payment and the 30-day money-back guarantee
Prices are in US dollars. Payments are processed by Stripe and are one-time; there is no subscription and no renewal. Taxes may be added at checkout where required.
If Facelet is not for you, email hello@facelet.app within 30 days of the day we deliver your download and we will refund the full price, no questions asked. Before the beta build is delivered, you may cancel your reservation at any time for a full refund. Refunds go back to the original payment method and end the license. We may decline repeat refunds from the same person for the same product.
6. Beta software
The early beta is pre-release software. It may contain defects, change substantially, or occasionally not work. We provide it so you can use it early and help us improve it. Please report problems to us; we may use what you tell us to improve Facelet without owing you anything for it.
7. Your account
Your account is tied to your email address and secured with one-time sign-in links. Keep access to that mailbox safe; anyone who can read it can sign in as you. Tell us if you believe your account has been misused.
8. Acceptable use
Use Facelet lawfully and decently. Do not use it to impersonate real people, to harass, or to produce content that is unlawful where you are. Do not interfere with our services or other people’s use of them.
9. Ownership
Facelet, its characters, artwork, names, and software are ours or our licensors’ and are protected by intellectual property law. Your conversations are yours; we do not claim them, and we do not receive them.
10. Disclaimers and limits
Facelet, and especially the beta, is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and we do not promise that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free. Our total liability to you for anything arising from these terms or from Facelet is limited to the amount you paid us. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages. Some places do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.
11. Ending things
You may stop using Facelet at any time. We may suspend or end your license if you materially breach these terms and do not fix it after we ask. Sections that by their nature should survive, including ownership, disclaimers, and limits, survive.
12. Changes
We may update these terms as Facelet grows. We will post the new version here with a new date and, for significant changes, email account holders. Continuing to use Facelet after that means you accept the new terms.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where Facelet is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before bringing a claim, please write to us; most problems can be sorted out by email. Nothing here limits consumer rights that the law gives you and that cannot be waived.
